SEACOR Marine’s safety culture exists and is promoted at all levels of the organization by professionals who are fully committed to sustaining GOAL ZERO. SEACOR Marine strives to continually provide the most effective training to our employee’s both shore-side and onboard our vessels. This safety culture is based upon the Four Pillars:
The Safety Management System (SMS) was developed by SEACOR Marine based on the principles of the International Safety Management Code, as a means of protecting people, property, and the environment.
The SMS provides SEACOR Marine’s employees with policies, procedures and best practices to safely complete the shipboard operations as well as compliance with regulatory, flag state and client requirements. SEACOR Marine employees complete annual SMS training and emergency preparedness drills as required. The SMS provides the guidance for preventive maintenance to ensure our vessels are maintained to the highest standards.
The SMS is audited annually by trained internal auditors, Classification Societies, Flag States, Clients and annual Management and Master reviews. This provides a means of continuous review and improvement ensuring SMS compliance. SEACOR Marine’s Document of Compliance certifies our SMS complies with the requirements of the International Maritime Organization’s International Safety Management Code.
The Risk Assessment / Job Safety Analysis (JSA) requires that a suitable and sufficient assessment be made of the risks to the health and safety of workers, the environment and assets arising in the normal course of their duties. These risks identify the hazards involved with their job tasks and then control measures are implemented to mitigate the risk to an acceptable level of risk tolerance; which is the amount of risk an individual is willing to assume in pursuit of a goal.
The PAUSE process is SEACOR Marine’s positive and proactive behavior-based safety program. This process provides positive reinforcement of safe work practices and best-practice training based on at-risk behaviors to positively affect employees’ future behaviors. An observer will be able to affect both their own behaviors and the behaviors of those whom they observe. The PAUSE form is a web-based tool that provides real-time data allowing the company to effectively and proactively provide safe and at-risk feedback to the employees in support of GOAL ZERO.
SEACOR Marine’s SWA Policy is a crucial element in sustaining GOAL ZERO. SWA is each employee’s personal responsibility for their safety, the safety of co-workers, customers, innocent bystanders, the environment, and equipment. It is our obligation to stop any situation that poses a threat to personal injury, environmental impact, and property or equipment damage. SWA is ingrained in our safe working culture and SEACOR Marine management empowers every employee to use SWA without fear of repercussions. SEACOR Marine recognizes the benefits of utilizing SWA and embraces its principles of providing safer operations supporting GOAL ZERO.
SEACOR Marine has implemented a Quality Management System for the Onshore Management and Administration of Offshore Service Activities, to improve its operations and to meet or exceed client requirements.
SEACOR Marine has implemented an Environmental Management System for the Onshore Management and Administration of Offshore Service Activities, to provide the framework to protect the environment and respond to the changing environmental conditions in balance with socio-economic needs.
SEACOR Marine has implemented an Occupational Health and Safety Management System for the Onshore Management and Administration of Offshore Service Activities, to provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work related injury and ill health, as well as proactively improving our occupational health and safety performance and to meet or exceed the customer’s and regulatory requirements.
These above accreditations from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) will provide additional certainty of SEACOR Marine’s proven, effective processes and best practices to employees, clients and regulatory agencies.
